Material
science supplies the requirements
of life i.e saves man from dying;
it is to this end. Spiritual
science leads man to enlightenment
and feeds him with divine elixir.
Both sciences are vital for
happy and harmonious existence
since the former feeds the body
while the latter feeds the soul.

Sanskrit
Literature is a universal
treasure of transcendent knowledge
and wisdom dedicated to the
welfare of all mankind. Therefore,
to preserve and exploit it, is
a global responsibility.
The achievements of Sanskrit
Literature are not just descriptions

common
to most
intellectual traditions of the
world, but the results of the
rigorous experiments as well
as the stoical penance leading
beyond the reach of any mortal
language to the reflections
deep-experienced yet inarticulate,
in the state of Pashyanti, to
which the vehicle of language
has no access. This indefatigable
dedication to wisdom in Sanskrit
literature has persisted for
over six thousands years. To
penetrate into the wisdom of
Sanskrit, one is required to
take the same devotional course
as the ascetics, Rhishis,
or one remains eluded on the
surface, left only to form a
false concept about Sanskrit
Literature.
There has
been, admittedly a sense of
contempt for Sanskrit Studies
among some people of prejudice
just as there prevailed, before
the Renaissance, for the Greek
and Roman Wisdom in the European
history of knowledge. Indeed
Sanskrit Studies are fervently
demanding a profound Renaissance,
a great deal more extensive
than that of the West.
From
this corner of the world, on
behalf of Mahendra Sanskrit
University, Nepal I earnestly
invite you, the scholars and
intellectuals of both hemispheres,
to the treasures of Sanskrit
Literature as well as to our
ever-welcoming university.
Finally,
let me also welcome you to www.msu.edu.np
